Introduction
I actively explore the states of being that all us humans go through at some time or another. Grief, Sorrow, Joy, Peace, Anxiety, Restlessness and so on and so forth. I find that these feelings, these states of being are worn openly on all of our faces but society has taught us to either hide them or rather, not perceive them. I use photography, namely portraiture to explore this dynamic interplay between pure being and perceived being in all of its many facets and variations.
In this series, American Weekend, I explore the state of relaxation, joy and general delight that we strive for at the end of the week and the absence of work. In many instances though, such states as anxiety, fear and doubt are mixed within as they are lurking under the thin veneer of a good time.
